This Friday is Transgender Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to recognizing and uplifting transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people; while also shining a light on the discrimination they face all around the world. Let’s use this day to acknowledge their strength and joy.
According to the Williams Institute, 1.6M people ages 13 and older, and 1.3M adults identify themselves as transgender in our country, with 39 percent making up transgender women, and 36 percent making up transgender men. Unfortunately, despite progress, trans people continue to face discrimination, harassment, and barriers to opportunity around the globe— especially trans people of color.
We can do our part in supporting trans people by taking the time to educate ourselves and others on the history and policies that Democrats are developing to create real change. Consider attending this online event to learn more:
