2020 Presidential and Vice Presidential Debates

Details on the three presidential and one vice presidential debates are as follows. Moderators are selected by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates. Due to the pandemic there will be only one debate moderator for each event to keep people on stage at a minimum, and some sites have been changed. The debates will be carried on most major news stations and live-streamed by the Washington Post and others.
  • Biden/Trump--Tuesday, September 29, from 9-10:30pm
    Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland*
    Six 15-minute segments, no commercial breaks
    Moderator: Chris Wallace, Fox News Sunday anchor

  • Harris/Pence--Wednesday, October 7, from 9-10:30pm
    University of Utah, Salt Lake City
    Nine 10-minute segments, no commercial breaks
    Moderator: Susan Page, USA Today DC bureau chief

  • Biden/Trump--Thursday, October 15, from 9-10:30pm
    Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami*
    Town-hall format with no commercial breaks
    Moderator: Steve Scully, C-SPAN senior exec. producer
    Event is off as of October 8, as Trump, who is COVID positive, declined to participate in the event after it was moved online. Joe Biden has agreed to a Town Hall event that night on ABC instead, while Trump says he will do a live rally.
