Meet Candidate for Governor, Jay Gonzalez

Attorney Jay Gonzalez, the first Democrat to enter the 2018 race for the governorship, will introduce himself, discuss his position on issues, and answer questions from the voting public. This program is hosted by the South Hadley Democratic Town Committee in conjunction with the Quabbin Democrats, and is free and open to the public.

Until recently, Mr. Gonzalez served as CEO of the health insurer CeltiCare and he previously was the Massachusetts Secretary for Administration and Finance under Governor Deval Patrick. According to his website, Mr. Gonzalez “believes he has a vision for Massachusetts that Gov. Charlie Baker has not offered to voters.”

SOUTH HADLEY DEMOCRATS WILL HOLD CAUCUS ON MARCH 11 TO ELECT DELEGATES TO STATE CONVENTION

Registered Democrats in South Hadley will hold a caucus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 11th to elect seven delegates and four alternates to the 2017 State Democratic Convention. The caucus will be held in the Selectboard Meeting Room at Town Hall, 116 Main Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Town Hall is handicap accessible. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for caucus registration. Registration ends at 11:15 a.m.

The caucus is open to Democrats who are registered to vote in South Hadley as of the date of the caucus and the Democratic Town Committee (SH-DTC) warmly welcomes participants. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women and, in the spirit of inclusion, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities who are not elected as delegates or alternates may apply to be “add-on” delegates. Candidates must be present at the caucus and must consent to nomination in writing.

The State Democratic Convention will be held on Saturday June 3rd, at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA. The Massachusetts Democratic Party platform will be the principal focus of the convention, which also will feature a keynote address by Senator Elizabeth Warren.
